Trains in Bulgaria or “girls to the right, boys to the left”

Once, a few years ago, it was an amazing discovery for me that in Bulgarian trains, men and women cannot travel in the same compartment. When my husband and I were traveling somewhere on the train, we had to buy all the compartments, otherwise we had to sleep in different ones: I was in a compartment, where there were only women, he — where there were only men.

If you are traveling somewhere alone, there are no problems here - the conductor will identify you in a compartment according to your floor, but if your family and children are of opposite sexes, it is not very convenient here. Especially considering that the coupe is now triple in Bulgaria. It turns out that if you have two "girls" and two "boys" in your family, then the pope always remains the "victim", because it is him who is settled in the compartment to other peasants. A mother with two children of the same sex can redeem all three-seater coupe. Clear? Not? Then do not bother. If you have to go in the Bulgarian train, the guide will explain everything to you.

I confess at once that I do not know where this tradition came from.

The railway in Bulgaria has existed since 1866. This is a fairly extensive messaging system for such a small country. Previously, on the Bulgarian railway, they drove beautiful German trailers with red velvet sofas and lightened doors into the corridor, hung with cute curtains. Now the cars are changing to new ones - also German. These are Siemens Desiro Classic electric trains. They remind me of cans, because from the inside they seem very thin and fragile, everything is cracking and clicking, everything is tilting and swinging - you go and you feel every turn and ascent with a descent. The old cars were heavier.

However, the new ones are quite beautiful, the biotoilets make it possible not to lock the toilet in the parking lots, washbasins in the compartment - not to stand in line at the arrival, and so on.

In December, we again rode on BC and I took photos of the train from the inside specifically for our community.

The linen in the compartment is already laid

New German cars are divided into sleeping and sitting, which are divided into first and second class, and sleeping - into three classes: business, first and second. Business class is a single compartment, in the first class - two places. But I will show the second class, because it is almost impossible to buy the first two classes. In the sense that over the past five years we have not succeeded: all the time there are no tickets. At the same time, when you go on a train, there is a feeling that it is half empty.

By the way, there is still a compartment for disabled people - they are more spacious than others.

Washbasin in the compartment

Tickets for Bulgarian trains are very affordable. In some cases, it is much cheaper than intercity buses.

Tickets are sold very interesting: the road itself, for example, from Sofia to Burgas costs 10.20 euros in terms of levs, and then you pay extra for the type of car. Either 9.23 euros for a business, or 6.15 euros for the first class and 5.12 euros for the second. All prices are in BGN - I specifically counted them in euros to make it clearer.

Cabinet behind the mirror

At the same time sitting places cost from 0.25 euros to 2.56 euros.

Climate control

If you yourself raise the middle shelf, so that it is more convenient to sit on the first one (because they are too low), then you will not lower it back - you will need to call the conductor, because the key to the shelf is with him.

Drawer for shoes under the hanger

New cars are good because they have a climate control system and you can adjust it yourself. True, we personally did not succeed. It seems to me that in order to deal with these buttons, one has to be an expert)) But we never froze in new cars, there is no blowing anywhere.

The car has a ladder that you can rearrange as you like, as well as the luggage compartment under the ceiling. It is useless if you have a heavy suitcase.

But there is a convenient hanger for things and a box for shoes.

disadvantages

Sets with paper napkins give occasionally. Therefore, always have something with you that can wipe your face and hands.

There are no tables in the compartment and, in principle, it is not allowed to eat.

In Bulgarian, the train is called Vlak, and the railway station is called ZHP-Gar. Because railways are iron ones.

Thank you for your time and attention.
