Choosing expensive destinations can be rewarding as the experience will often be totally worth it. However sometimes this can be a little excessive and much saving can be made by making smart choices. Accommodation is one of the biggest spends and will quickly rack up as the days increase.

A flight can reduce in price depending on the dates of travel and can even work out cheaper for extended periods. Lodging however will always increase the longer a stay is. Staying in a slightly outer area away from a city centre or main tourist attraction will involve a little extra commute but can save significant amounts of money depending on the duration stay. I will often research on the best places to stay based on location and transport links and aim for a value for money price point.
