Old Souls

Watching old souls
Throughout time
In times of war
They blend into the scene,
The gray green and night
The firefight
Old souls seem to congregate
They fight for reasons beyond what is spoken
There is a sense of personal pride
And the unknown aura of many nights
Many stars seen, many moons aglow
Many worlds, under war, unseen, ravenous
Pain is pain, it always has been
And pain and suffering lead me to this altar
This sacrifice this burning star
I seek the stars and the burning glow
Of objects in the night
I alight myself, burning fire
Again to fight
Again on this night
Again to die
And in fire
Purify
