There's evil in the town!

Yesterday the town was calm!
The town was peaceful!
The people were happy!
Now, such exciting feeling is no more!

There's this saying that when you escape a snake's attack, you become scared of ropes!
This has made the people sleepless!
They hear the bell jingling before it jingles!
They hear the cock crowing before it crows!
The see the sun setting before it sets!
They set a curfew that restricts them from breathing!
The fear of the evil has endangered their existence!

The evil is mighty!
The evil is strong!
The evil is deadly!
The evil is no respecter of any age grade!
The evil eats the children at their playgrounds!
It eats up the women at the market square!
It consumes the men at their evening sit-outs!
It consumes the aged on their sick beds!

Faeces they say does not resemble it's depositor!
And so does the evil appear in an unsuspicious form!
It laughs with the children!
It gossips with the women!
It suggests ideas for the men!
It sympathizes with the aged!
It builds relationship with everyone!
And when you are lost, it showcases it's true colours!
This evil is filled with wisdom!

The evil is always a step ahead of you!
The evil works on your strength!
It uses your weaknesses against you!
It wipes your tears with peppery water!
It heals your wounds with acid!
It clothes you with rags that exposes your secret parts!
You look at the evil as a friend unknown to you it's intentions!

The evil is transformational!
The curfew you set creates a room for it in your home!
You look ahead for it with it!
You set your gun to shoot it with its fingers on the trigger!
How do you conquer this evil that lies within?
How do you fight an evil that knows all your steps?
How do you kill an evil that knows you than you know it?
How do you quench this evil?
There's evil in the town!

This write-up is inspired by a poem written by @itoroarchibong titled 'THERE'S EVIL IN THE TOWN!'

The greatest kind of evil is that which lies within us and we don't know it.
We can't see but it sees us.
This write-up expresses the intentions of the evil, how it appears, it's ways, it's wisdom and superiority to those it endangers.
It's a free verse and does not have specific stanza format.
