An exposé on life

Well, they say that life comes in different shades,
Just like the sun casts down its ideal rays,
Creeping towards every dark corner,
Turning most of the nights into days.
Most believe that life is full of ups and downs,
Faces switching between smiles and frowns,
But with time i realized that
its just made up of the 'then' and 'now'.

Memories of the past times
that taught lessons in the times past,
Affecting decisions of the present,
while the seconds of the time lasts.
Take a moment in your life
And live in that moment
Defining it each day
And living it as you may.

Because the story of your life
is carefully inked to its pages,
every word for every choice
as your scenes play in stages.
So don't think for a moment
that a story can write itself,
Lest it ends up as dusty paper
lost in the forgotten shelves.
Rather take up the pen today
And write on a page or two,
For in your life's story, i say
The author can only be you.
