Just Before the City Wakes (An Original Poem)

in #poetry5 years ago (edited)

The city hasn’t quite woken
and the empty streets,
they don’t yet belong to us.

Facades gleam
in the stillness and
the slices of space
in between teem
with bathing birds,
squirrels and rabbits feasting
in the golden hour.

Just before
the city wakes,
kitchen fans
begin to hum,
sweet and low,
spewing the scents
that will summons
the masses to
their feet.

What a gift this is
to witness such
a lovely freedom,
and to know
that nature
finds a way
to persist
in spite of us
and will be here
long after our last
edifice fades away.

A beautiful poem Eric and we are just a piece of nature, who need to appreciate every moment of life!

What a beautiful poem, @ericvancewalton. There is an air of celebration in it that reminds me not only of other poets, but also of the many dawns I have experienced. Sleeping cities, which like a woman slowly wake up, have different smells and sounds. Thank you for that poem in homage to all the cities of the world!Greetings

Thank you and I appreciate your comment!

So lovely poetry! Really a peaceful time before the city wake up, this time nature has different beauty that really enjoyable.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks!

@ericvancewalton, Really beautiful piece brother and these words are definitely in depth and nature is abundance for sure. When we explore the actions of nature then it brings peace and pleasantness to our life which is really healing. Stay blessed.
