Jacques Prévert is a French poet, screenwriter and author of song lyrics. He has published several poetry collections, among which "Paroles", he has gained popularity in his own familiar language and word games. His poems become known in the French-speaking world and are heavily involved in the French school program. He also writes theater sketches, songs, scripts, and dialogues for cinema, where he becomes one of the leading figures of poetic realism. Originally connected with surrealism, later his poems are most often related to topics from daily life in Paris in the mid-20th century. From 1928 in 1972 175 records of vocal performances of his poems were made. Numerous stars of the band have songs in their repertoire with Prever - Catherine Sowage, Yves Montan, Juliet Greco, Marlene Dietrich, Simon Sinore, Tino Rossi, Serge Gansbourg. He is the author of the scripts of several films, most of them directed by Marcel Carne. Among them is "Les Enfants du paradis" for which he was nominated for an Oscar for the best original screenplay.
