Wind and Rain
from the ones upon which their owners float― one that's slower.
― Stephen King
Bleary windows cast doubt,
But the world without,
Matters little to the house.
And the wind and rain war
With no clear victory,
And the years roll on,
As waves upon the sea.
Safe within these walls
I scarcely hear the rain,
The strongest gusts of wind
Cannot enter in.
And the years roll on
Through several world wars,
And the house still stands
Oblivious of the storms.
And I long to be as strong
As sure and self contained,
Yet every passing storm
Rocks the world I have made.
