You WILL move on. You WILL let go. You ARE okay. I promise

Questions I get so so often are 'How can I let him/her go?' 'How do I move on?' 'How can I get over him/her for good?' And here's the thing - healing isn't a competition, a race, or something you can rush. Moving on, letting go - that's hard. That's painful. It takes time, careful steps, and intentional pulling away from the familiar to create your own sense of self-definition.⠀

Breaking up with someone you love - that's like losing a piece of your heart. And in the aftermath, you have to re-learn your identity without them, and re-remember that you were always (and always will be) whole even without them attached to your hip.⠀

Maybe you're discouraged with yourself because you haven't moved on 'fast enough,' because it's been months and you're still stuck on them, because it feels like everyone else is happy and finding their 'person' and you're still here, still fighting to figure out who you are and what you want.

You can't hurry healing. You can't force it. As painful as it is, you just have to let it come - let it hurt, let it push, let it break you - so that you can recover and rebuild.
