What do you do when someone is in pain
Do you try to make sunshine or add to the rain

If a person is hurting where do you begin
Do you offer them kindness, a rum or a gin

Is it in you to hug them, to cuddle and hold
Or do you withdraw and go icy cold

We get what we give but some people just take
And pretend to be nice when they are really fake

We gain what were given from when we are born
It could be love and compassion or anger and scorn

It can be happiness and giving or fearful hate
But as an adult choose wisely before it's too late
