Voiceless

Voiceless –
What is the point of language
when “No” is rejected
and “Stop” is ignored?

He wasn’t taught to listen,
to distinguish the difference
between pleasant moans
and squeals of agony.

One day, I will learn
how to talk again.
I will be hoping
that next time,
my voice will be heard.

Taught to listen, or chooses to ignore?
Malicious or unfortunately unaware?
Very visual poem, you say so much using so little and it is sad to think there is even a question debating whether the other person might not be aware of the harm they cause.

There are malicious people, but there are also those who are unaware because they were raised by this culture. I think it became evident recently with how many guys had no problems to objectify and use others for their pleasure because they were in a position of power and did not realise the harm it can do to the victim.

Well, this just makes me want to cry.

All our voices need to be heard.

Very moving poem.

Dramatic yet gentle. First stanza bears enormous philosophical mantle, at various levels. Upvoting!

It is a heavy topic indeed; thank you

No doubt it is. Welcome.

Your poeems are always greta and make one think Love them

Is this poem part of your recent book or is it new one? I liked it anyway!

It's a new one :) I have already posted the whole book by last month. Thank you :)

I am a bit slow these days. Haven't visited your blog in a while. I am glad you keep on writing poetry and did not lose your drive. Being consistent and disciplined makes you get better at it, just like in any other field.

Yeah. I have around 100 poems I wrote this year lying on my computer, but most of them are not edited and I am struggling to do that. My expression is still there, i just don't feel like i'm reaching a final product.

Hello Jeremy. Complex poetry as usual. Always an interesting read. You probably already noticed, but just in case your esteemed readership hasn't, your lovely poetry has appeared twice so far in the collection of 100 best poems submitted over poetsunited's first 180 days.. There will be a total of 10 issues for the event - Your poetry appears as follows
Issue 2/10 - In the Streets of Paris
Issue 4/10 - Satellite
More will likely appear over the next six days.

There are many other brilliant reads appearing as well, and everyone is invited to do battle for a spot of fun.
