Dust [poetry ]

You want me to let you turn to dust
Take all the gloves off then close the door shut
Stay far away from you until you are nothing but
A lonely shadow fading far into the dusk
Leave you trapped in your own little cave
To bury yourself in your misery haze
Consumed by your troubles till they eat you away
And you just can't bear another day
You want me to live knowing I left you to die
Throw you away and hang you out to dry
Hurt you how you hurt me before we say goodbye
Make me angry even if you have to lie
Because you want to dig your own grave
Death is what you crave
You think it'll be your one save
So you give drugs the praise
And you effortlessly use the line
"I know you're gonna be fine"
Maybe I will be in time
But you'll always be in this heart of mine!
I know why you want to go and you know it too
I think the fact that I understand reassures you
But if I wasn't as strong as you thought, what would you do?
Would it be enough to make you stay? Tell me true
I'm not gonna disagree I know I'll be alright eventually
I just hate that you are that confident in me
It's sweet but it kills me in the same breath
A sacrifice for your happiness I guess...
How can you think about going so fast?
I know you've had a terrible past
But this pain does not have to last
You make me so mad when you go down this path
Well actually you just make me sad
I want to be there to hold your hand
Because I can never seem to make you understand
That this is not a good plan
A selfish part of me wants you to stay
I just wish you would believe what I say
When I tell you there's a better way
And that you're gonna be okay...

But even if you went down
And became dust on the ground
Don't you know I would cry for dust?
You must
I've given you my trust
And also my love
Isn't that enough?
I know you're feeling stuck
But I don't want to see you give up
You're so much better than this
You just don't see the value of your existence
You only want to become dirt
Because you think that's all your worth
Too focused on being hurt
Forgetting you belong on this Earth
All decisions are yours to make
But I absolutely will still take
Every opportunity to break
This vicious cycle of self hate
