Iggy
Our friends ... they come in many different shapes and sizes. And sometimes, in many different colors too. It's not what they look like that's important, it's what they do for us. More often than not, it's just that they're there. Someone to stand with, so that we do not stand alone.
This is a tribute to such a friend, Iggy.
Iggy was a Bearded Dragon, notable for her beauty and for her stoic silence. Iggy, was not a big talker and so it's hard to find a quote. But, as poets know, the power of prosody is in the pause. And so, with that, we pause to give salute to Iggy ... Ben's best friend.

Hey Paul. I went through this with my daughter's cat a couple of months ago. It's tough. I hope Ben takes some comfort from whatever support this post creates. Sometimes it helps to know other people are thinking of you.
Really beautiful. And great thoughts on life and friendship. As you say, there is no true definition, beyond just the reality of the closeness of friends. Thanks for putting it out for our buddy and Ben.

Thank you for your support. @old-guy-photos is a great guy and I'm sure the apple falls not far from the tree. We've all been there and sometimes grief is easier when shared.

Thanks for the support. The loss is actually for @old-guy-photos' son, Ben. But Old Guy's a friend and I'm a poet. I copied the poem in @old-guy-photos feed as well. I'm sure Ben will read both.

What a lovely sentiment, I must have missed something here obviously not keeping up enough with @old-guy-photos blog I never realised Ben @silver314 had a bearded dragon. I have some friends that keep them, they are fussy pet's to keep needing so much warmth and special diet - but like any pet it's a sad time when they pass.
I enjoyed your poem, although had to squint to read it being old and a bit batty - I keep seeing people do this thing where you can click the image to "pop out" a high res version - that would be perfect for something like this to make reading easier - no idea how you do it yet but might be a good one to research.

Alas, poor Carol's bifocals. I can barely read your poems embedded in memes. --And I see now somebody else, @c0ff33a, already lamented this.

Alas, I got tired of telling people to "magnify it" (three horizontal bars, top right part of the screen ... click it, now "zoom"), and so, now I always include the text of the poem at the end of the post. It also helps for when steemitimages is not not serving up images (too frequently).

Hmmm, those three bars up in the right hand corner... I enlarge by holding down Ctrl + rolling the mouse (yeah, I still prefer a mouse to a fingertip).
