the muse of tragedy II | Another Poem

I know I shouldn't have told you
that it'll all be fine
when I didn't even know it myself.

But isn't that the thing one says?
and doesn't it matter
that I believed?

Doesn't belief matter?
It doesn't, I know it now

so let us plan our demise together
I'll have your back
and you'll have mine
and we'll drive in the daggers
so that they meet at our hearts

i see nothing wrong
but what i see is not the point
i can't see the point
if
the point is what's important
then nothing's wrong with that

because the point is
the importance of a thing
lies not in the seeing
but in the unseeing

i can't unsee the point
in spending life with you

so
let's pretend for a second
that all our erased conversations

are martyrs
who died with the only instructions
on how to have fruitful conversations
with friends

so that now
only
enemies speak our language:

Ayn, Rand, Melpomene,
the guy who said he loved you when he didn't
etc.

all are our allies now.
