GRAINS OF SAND
TLE52 – 7 January 1997
Have you noticed the sand
As it heats up below the golden sun?
Have you seen the heatwave
Caress the bare rocks?
Perceived, have you, the thought
Of waves crashing on you as you run?
And how all the birds of the ocean
Circle around you in a flock?
Nature has its beauties;
The forests know when it rains.
The sands rejoice as you turn upon them
Singing songs in the outpour.
Imagine that the sands send messages
To neighbouring sands.
Then the world’s grains of sand
Will know of your beauty and splendour.
The desert may seem hot
When anybody treads upon the sand.
Once you set foot upon it
The sands recognise you and cool down.
I can feel the warmth in your heart
As I lightly touch your hand.
And it fills me with happiness
To know my relationship with you is safe and sound.

Your love of nature is evident from poetry at a young age Shaun, good to see some of your earlier work.
