to watch the tears fall upon the pink petals of a rose
liquid stones are the dew drops crystalline by the light
but this morning I awoke from a dark and dreamless sleep
birds singing sad songs to a mind weary of its climbing
and it doesn’t want a sun rise on the day of its dying
so petals forgotten and all the world’s beauties scorned
as the rain continues its incessant muttering puttering
upon the gutters leaking to the ever bowing ground and yet
as sure as the air still remains here, so does our love
deepest mystery of the universe, incomprehensible life
goodbye, goodbye strange funeral of Mind, I give thanks
placing rose and thorn upon your home before we leave
we give you regards as we walk deeper into living light.
