The Ruddy King

Inspired by another poem of mine ("The Silversong") and by one of my favorite characters to write about.

All was bright in the land before,
The seas were blue upon the shore,
The fields did burn with verdant fire,
No son yet offered up to war,
And all with gladness bowed and swore
To the ruddy king upon his spire.

All is dark in the land today,
The sea consumes those led astray,
The fields became unfruitful ground,
And ravens make young men their prey,
The broken lands each other slay,
And the ruddy king cannot be found.
