Attrition
Attrition
The conflict began long ago, before the need arose
Options given to the undeserving, agendas and desire aplenty
Instead of work, oppression is what they chose
The mighty of body, lost the brilliance of mind
And while shadows crept across thought, fear drove hand
And love sat on ground, broken, idle and blind
The smoke of the artillery masked flash from muzzle
Words rained down, the shells of men who once stood tall
The pinpoint pierced into flesh, blood begins the puzzle
The rock below the greatest teacher, jagged the lesson be
Learners the evolvers and revolvers that fire heavy upon future
To take up their place upon the thrones of destiny
To make it through the trenches and stand the test of time
It is a war of attrition and instant gratification loses every battle
Those who let loose their hand, reach for a piece of mine

Where you going with this one @tarazkp, give me a hint? Is the speaker of this poem, deeply wrapped up in the "conflict", or are they outside the battle?
It seems you are the speaker, and you are in the battle, and you hate the opposition as much as they hate you?
It is poetry, it is what it means to you that is important.
Spoken like a true artist. ;)
I feel as though I have been in the trenches for a long time. Every day is another battle.
The quest for instant gratification is the biggest hindrance to realization of anyone's full potential. To sustain our tempo, we must resist the urge to cool things down with instant gratification
Too many fall at the earliest of pleasures while too few invest into building themselves for a healthy life.
After reading your post, these words came to my mind and so I wrote them down
well, you have a post there :P
HA ha! True :-)
Check my last post, it exactly has the same origin - originally was a comment, but I extended it to make a post
Btw, I really like it.
Thanks man!
Nicely written piece mate. Sounds about right when we think of life, always more to overcome, thankfully some of us grow skin thick enough to cope, doubt our new generation will grow anything apart from more moaning strategies
Skin thickness is definitely reducing in the younger generations.
Exactly, such crybabies. I had more backbone as 11 year old who cycled 18km with friends to go play by the river for the day than most of our teenagers nowadays
Interesting... I wish I could reach out for a piece of mine to.
fantastic post friend good
