DARK THOUGHTS
I am thinking of white bones
I am seeing crossbones
I am no pirate, no black beard am I
Only a romantic thinking morbid thoughts
Feeling the pulse of wasted love
And hearing the cry of the unborn child.
I am seeing black soil
I am thinking of vermin
I am no undertaker, a microbiologist I am not
Only a grieving heart struggling with sorrow
Thinking of smiles permanently eclipsed
And laughter forever silenced.
I am thinking fervently of life
But I am seeing nothing but death
I am no shrinking violet, a quaking heart I am not
Only a confused mind wondering at the blind reaper
Thinking of joy jealously buried
And hope never to be felt.
