Regret
regret is the memory of a moment
buried under a landslide of snow
a precious heirloom lost to time's shadow
taking with it the possibility of tomorrow
move on.. forget
yet some things cannot be forgotten
nor forgiven
history comes to haunt our minds
and with it comes the burden of failure
and of loss
move on
the hope of a heart that is afraid to trust
soon falls to the shiv
shame is a taskmaster who never releases her chains
chiding the survivor to remember each sorrow
again and again and again

Regret is like the little devil on your shoulder, always whispering in your ear about things that you can't change, trying to bring them up again to make you feel bad.
Living in the past robs a person of the energy that they need to live in the now...

The opening couplet is super powerful . Small grammar error to correct if you want to, the shadow is possessed by time so there should be the possessive apostrophe there ("time's")
