LET IT SHINE: A VERSE LOST IN BELLION MUSIC
Let's let our wings span the sky,
So we can fly with the wind,
Shake the dew fed treetops
Of fruit filled forests
Where mammals still roam free.
Let our hands bring fire
To the soul of those who seek.
Come let's see the earth as it is;
A dark sphere floating in the darkness
Waiting for the light to come.
Let's lift the light from it's grave
And place it on the brow
Of new apostles speaking in love?
Forget miracles and tongues.
Or holding the sun still for a day;
Just light filled souls giving love
To broken spirits creeping through
The darkness and debris of
A broken world calling for hope.
I wrote these verses while listening to John Bellion. His vocals and instrumentals are just fucking dope. I feel he's a great talent but that's my personal opinion anyhow. Besides his music helps me write and that is how I identify good music.
The verses reflect the human need for salvation. By salvation I do not just mean the spiritual, heaven kind, although it is a part of it. I mean salvation of all kinds; it could be from a broken relationship, a bad job, poor health, poor finances, poor mental health, low self esteem and all the dark things, feelings, habits that make us stalk our rooms in the dark.
It is a call, this poem, to bring the light to the broken world and this light, this power is not meant to cause the miraculous or to imbue men with the power to speak in tongues but just to share and express love in such a way that it would bring healing to the broken spirits of we who walk this dark sphere floating in the darkness of space.
This is not the job of one man or woman but the effort for everyone. We all have some light hidden within, we just need to let it out and allow it to shine. We would be super humans if we can just give some of those light to the world. Come let's shine some of that light, before the darkness completely overruns all of us. Peace.
