This Saturday's Pokemon League Cup is in some ways a turning point for the local community.

First off, as a reminder, this Saturday's Noon League Cup is the final tournament to use the Sun & Moon through Unbroken Bonds format. Unified Minds will not be legal, and the rotation has not happened yet.

This is however, the first League Cup run as part of the 2020 Pokemon Championship Series. During previous series, it was very difficult for local players to potentially qualify for the World Championships without going to mainalnd events as there just weren't enough Championship points going around locally to qualify. With League Challenges and League Cups held at both Da-Planet and Toylynx along with the moderate reduction in Championship Points requried to get into Worlds, that all changes.

Some may scoff at Pokemon as being a kid's game, but with prizes at Worlds peaking at $25,000 for first (plus a ton of swag) and paying out $1,500 to top-32, there is a reason to master the card game!
