I don't know that they lack sufficient income to get by. Though BG has the lowest GDP of any EU nation, the standard of living is also low, so they don't have as many expenses. Of course, when they see that they can work in England or some other Western country for double/triple/quadruple the pay here, they tend to follow their ambitions beyond BG borders.

Besides, having a job or not having a job has nothing to do with playing the lottery, in my observation.

We still villify and envy the rich in America, want to be them, at the same time we say they're the enemy, it seems to me anyhow. Is there a covetous duality present over there too?

If anything, it's in human nature, not just in one nation ...
