RE: I am considering running for a US House of Representatives Seat in 2020...

Hello and welcome!

Best of luck in your candidacy. I have not personally run for public office but I have worked in several campaigns at state and local level to various extents.

My advice would be to "distinguish" yourself. I'm guessing you live in LA? It is probably very common for people to identify as "fiscally conservative, and socially liberal" there as it is in many places.

While this is good because your base is potentially huge it does nothing to indicate what your unique value is. What are the main issues facing your constituency? What is already being done/proposed about it? What is your opinion regarding potential solutions. How can you state your opinion while phrasing it in terms of a moral compass or admirable principle that people will connect with on an emotional level?

Once you have worked out this info you will need to be able to state it succinctly and confidently in response to leading or vaguely worded questions. Even if there is criticism you should be able to lean back on the underlying principle and seem open to other good ideas without compromising this "internal compass"

Again good luck and I will be following for updates!

Thanks for the encouragement Craig! I will definitely work on some of your suggestions
