Hahahaha, yep, those people are damn stupid! But I think it were some cheetah's, and supposedly they don't do real harm to humans, well the bigger versions of humans.

I could not come up the English name for that animal. I thought this was the name for luipaard.

Maybe also outside NL? Funny thing is, I was having lunch outside the car at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, in the wild with all sort of animals, in the Masai Mara. Certainly, our driver had the area in constant eye view and it was an wide open area. Common practise in that area. In South Africa I was in a wild game park with my own rental car and allowed to get out of the car into a lookout area surrounded by fences, with the warning to only step out of the car when no animals are in view, after parking the car as close as possible to the gate of the lookout area. I actually think the news and people are overreacting a bit. Sure, it was insane to take a little child out in the open; totally irresponsible.
