Khaleda Zia gets bail: court

The court, however, said that as per the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment and the former prime minister is an elderly woman.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim, while hearing the bail application of Khaleda Zia on Thursday, told the bench.

The court, while appearing on behalf of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), opposed the bail of the lawyer of Khaleda Zia, the court said, "The court can give bail to anyone convicted for seven years." Khaleda Zia has been sentenced for five years. So he can give bail to the court. Then he is the woman and the elderly, he can get bail. '
