DeSantis Campaign Folds Like a Cheap Suit

With a video message and a fake quote from Winston Churchill that actually turned out to be a line from a 1930s Budweiser beer ad campaign, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended his Republican presidential campaign on Elon Musk’s far-right social media platform “X” by quoting, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” DeSantis concluded by stating, “It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” and he closed by giving Trump his full endorsement.

So, DeSantis bowed out of the race by quoting an old Budweiser beer ad? Now, I don’t like to sound critical, but about the only person I can think of who would be impressed by an old Budweiser ad - would be Justice Brett Kavanaugh. We all know Kavanaugh’s a guy who really likes his beer. Ironically, DeSantis’ primary super PAC was actually named “Never Back Down.” Better modify that to, “We won’t back down - we’ll just quit instead.”

That said, it sounds like Ron DeSantis finally “woke up” to the realization he’s not gonna be president. Fare thee well, governor. We knew ye far too well. Frankly, he has no one to blame, but the “woke Marxist librarians” and Mickey Mouse. That, and the fact his Florida nonsense just didn’t play all that well on the national level - where far too many people have an IQ above 75. Besides, his campaign wasn’t a total loss. It did give America a close look at what an unlikeable, bizarre, little freak of a man he really is.

All I can say is, “Cheer up, Ron! You’re still gonna be the Benito Mussolini of Florida.” So, I guess its back down to sunny Florida to ban more books, attack Mickey Mouse, punish women, harass healthcare workers, and round up drag queens. Now, about the only thing left is for Nikki Haley to drop out so Trump supporters can begin claiming the 2024 election is totally rigged, months before it even takes place. Of course, should Republicans succeed in scaring enough folks into electing Donald Trump, no one will ever have to worry about voting being “rigged” again, because there’ll be no more elections.
