When you are interested in a topic (for instance politics), it is easy to come into an echo chamber, to get your information from a select amount of people will always drive you to their way of thinking. When you are only listening to one viewpoint, you can very fast be a supporter of an extreme ideology for instance, you don’t want that.

You can see people that are advocating for an ideology has their talking points and does not sway much from them. To be able to think for yourselves, you must not have the proclivity to ignore contradictory statements to your aligned ideology, therefore blindly following an ideology makes it more likely you follow the extreme version of the ideology. Thinking is a very hard thing to do any very few have mastered it, but that should not keep you from trying!
