For an ordinary person I really see no point of more wasted time and resource on debate or new regulation on firearm or knife or whatever the flavor of the day issue is. The criminals are not going to care and it won't make an ordinary average Joe any safer.
I do see a good point in doing something about the cyclist problem.
What is wrong with cyclists you may ask? No I don't mean it in a rude way or a broad stroke against all, most cyclist are great and respectful of other road users. However there are still bad (may be uneducated) cyclists that do
- Ride on sidewalks when it is against the law to do so
- Ride on pedestrian crosswalks when it is against the law to do so
- Ignore stop sign / Red lights
- Swerving narrowing close to cars.
All new bicycles sales parts and repair should subject to a 20% tax used for the following :
- Provide education to new cyclists
- Pay for insurance claims of damages as a result of cyclists hit and run.
- Pay police to ticket cyclist that riding in a way that is breaking the law and being a danger to themselves and others.
Yes you probably have guessed it, I am a hit and run victim of a bicycle ignoring a stop sign.
Drivers have to pay tax buying gas. Carbon tax is being slapped on a lot of things and not transparently going to causes combating carbon. No I don't believe this climate change BS but that is for another rant. So why not tax the people that is the super set of the few with bad behaviour just like all the other tax out there.
