Texas violated federal voting laws

in #politics6 years ago

In a final ruling made public Friday, U.S. District Judge Orlando L. Garcia in San Antonio declared the Department of Public Safety cannot encourage people to renew driver's licenses online, then add additional steps to update their voter registrations that are not required of people who go to their offices in person.

My thoughts on this news

This is how corrupt politicians try to destroy democracy. They want to make it as difficult as possible for people to vote and keep voter turnout as low as possible. This gives the corrupt politicians a better chance of winning elections. So in Texas politicians made it more difficult for people to register to vote, you could change your address and get a new drivers license online but you were not able to register to vote. Luckily a judge saw this violation of the law and changes will be made to make it easier for people. Most working class people barely have time to go vote and now they are forced to go register to vote in person. The USA needs a complete overhaul to a ranked voting system and national holidays for voting, otherwise this country will never be a real democracy...
