My thoughts on this news
This is a massive hurricane, luckily it was reduced to a category 1, but the destruction and damage from it will still be enormous. The fact that the majority of people do not have flood insurance in this area will create circumstances where some will not be able to repair their homes. What makes this hurricane unique is it's extreme large size and slow movement. It is expected to dump up to 40 inches of rain in some areas and bring in a storm surge of up to 10 feet in certain locations. There is no doubt there will be many homes and structures damaged by flooding. It is hard to watch peoples lives be disrupted in this way, but due to the warming of the oceans and increase in hurricanes. Many people in the future will most likely choose to move away from coastal areas to avoid these devastating events.
That's tragic. Wishing everyone safety.
