Infrared Photography - @Solominer hanging out by a tree fernsteemCreated with Sketch.

I was walking along a creek and came across an interesting sight on a large tree. It had a companion growing along the side of it. I am used to seeing photos on Steem and Mithril of tree ferns, but in more tropical areas. So I find it really interesting to find them up north at the Appalachian foot hills. I looked it over and it seemed to be doing quite well. It wrapped its roots around its bark, and im guessing its rhizome cluster is directly under that knot.

Using my 720 nanometer filter I got an sepia tone sky along with that wood effect on the fern leaves. Also my skin looks different in IR for sure, saved it for todays #portraitphotography

Another selfie of myself but with the fern in focus, I am going to do a more detailed post on this find in the future. But for the mean time just wanted to do a quick #portraitphotography post.

I take pictures with a special Panasonic Lumix Camera. Its a Mirrorless DSLR camera that has been modified by LifePixel to see in other wavelengths. This allows my camera to capture light in the Infrared around 1300 Nanometers wavelength, through the visual spectrum and into the Ultraviolet A and B wavelengths roughly into the 300 Nanometers wavelength.

I carry dozens of filters on me to make the photos you see in my blog, these filters screw on my lens and help me isolate certain wavelengths for certain scenes. These filters can be IR / UV cut filters to help me get a natural photo taking out the Ultraviolet and Infrared light. Or I may use a Infrared pass-through filter capture just Infrared light. I can do the same with Ultraviolet light as well, though I need some better filters which they can cost a few hundred dollars for true Ultraviolet passthrough filters. So for right now I have B + W 403 filters that still allow some IR light in, due to their cheaper material.

For more details on how I do my photography I have a video on that: https://steemit.com/photography/@solominer/vqgcrs3x

Interesting! I've never seen anything like that growing out of the trees around here. Thank you for sharing this.

@nat-expressions they seem to be quite rare.. glad you like it and no problem.
