Emotional Intelligence and Libertarian Activism

A comment I made in a separate post where someone discussed not getting emotionally attached to people to not compromise your activism.

“Feelings matter, yes building relationships makes things complicated but it allows us to connect with people so we can communicate ideas.

Think about someone you really dislike among the movement I’m sure you can think of a few. Those people would have a harder time getting your ear and much less be compelling versus someone you have a good rapport with.

It’s not that logic won’t ring true if a solid argument is brought, but a good argument from someone we don’t like or assume we don’t agree with we spend more time looking for something to validate our desire to keep not liking them and assuming they are wrong.

Point is, I agree the mission is critical, but emotions and feelings are part of the game and it ain’t easy.”
