Saving Space

Not everyone has a massive area in which to have a vegetable garden, but it is amazing how much can grow in a small area if it is planted carefully.

The answer is to incorporate vertical gardening with your veggies - such as beans, peas, tomatoes - provide them with a support to grow upwards and fasten the stems as they grow.
Then, underplant with smaller plants - choosing ones that will be correct for that location i.e. sun or shade.
Some plants that would suit this type of planting are corriander, radishes, lettuce, and herbs such as thyme, parsley, basil - the herbs keep pests away from the vertical crops and are another food source to harvest.

Flowers can also be used such as marigolds, violas and pansies and are edible too.

This method of vertical planting can also be done in containers to maximize harvests.
