Another WTF Moment with Coloured Resin

in #print3d4 years ago

I'd call these things "skeleton tanks," but the name is already taken. When I first pulled these models out of the machine, all looked well:

The trucks look good this time, no missing wheels or anything like that... but look closely at the tanks behind them. Do you see it?

How about now? The two KV-1s are the worst offenders. Notice that the supports lead right to the towing shackles, but the little toruses (torii?) that serve for towing shackles have nothing else connected to them. It's even weirder from the side:

Still don't see it? Here:

Bloody hell, what happened?! Did the UV laser simply stop working for about a hundred layers in those areas?! Well, all is not lost. I had no missing turrets this time, and the trucks look superb. I'm not sure which print orientation I prefer when it comes to the results, but I definitely prefer putting it wheels-down for clean-up purposes.

Just to let you know, these trucks are not mine. You can download the files here: https://www.wargaming3d.com/product/generic-trucks/
For this reason, I will not sell them in my shop. I'll print as many as I need for my own purpose, but that's it.
They are in 1:100 scale (15mm), so you will have to re-scale them by a factor of 0,3509 for 1:285 scale (6mm), or 0,4545 for 1:220 scale (Z gauge).

I was hoping to get 2 KV-1s, 2 KV-2s, a KV-6, and a KV-8 out of this build. The KV-1 and KV-2 have identical hulls, and one of them survived, along with the KV-6 hull. So, I was able to add two more models to my shop, the KV-2-107 and KV-6. Over the next few days, I'll try to close the gaps in the inventory on both my own website and on Wargaming 3D. I'm going to make another attempt to print my favourite tank in 1:220 scale with 25-micron layers, probably tomorrow, and then I think I'm going to take a break from printing wargaming miniatures and move on to castable wax patterns for jewellery.
