ECU Malfunction, caused by rainwater leak

in #problem6 years ago (edited)

Just as I thought, the leak from the chassis hole caused by rain has also caused the ECU to malfunction. Never knew what 'expected' to happen, happened.

You can see the corrosion there, caused by acidic rainwater.

The most expensive part of all, the IC chip or known as the processor.

Basically I found out this happened because once I turned on the ignition key without starting the engine, the fuel pump didn't stop pumping the fuel. Normally, the fuel pump pumps the fuel or making a buzzing noise for 2 to 3 seconds, it stops afterwards. But for mine it goes on and on forever...That's symptom number one.

Another symptom is my ECU Display (Apexi Power FC) comes with that, it stops displaying. But at least the car is able to be driven so I drove it and went for repair. Not gonna buy new ECU to replace this as it is too costly. Instead went for parts replacement which is almost 25% of the price of a new one.
