Social Project in Istanbul: So glad we have Uskudar!
I wanted to tell you about a project I had in Uskudar / Istanbul. Name of the project: So glad we have Uskudar! Before telling this project, I would like to point out that there is no political connection. They are supported by th goverment. But completly independent with their work. They are trying to make a difference.
The project in general advocates doing good for goodness. Üsküdar Bağlarbaşı Cultural Center regularly organizes events every week. There are various activities in these events. For example: They selling home-made things. You can think like kermis and everything that in sold is completely handmade. However, a certain percentage of the profits earned in the event are transferred to the project. This helps goes to people that in difficult situation. Or with that money, they are making events sick children. The people who work on the project consist entirely of volunteers. Their only purpose is to ensure that the project is maintained in the best possible way. I was partly into the project. So I'm not volunteered. My part is taking shot with my camera in the events and edit it for social media. For more detailed information about the project, I will put the links of Youtube and Instagram pages at the end of the post. You can examine it in more detail. Now I will describe the Beylerbeyi Design Event, an activity of this project, which I participated in. Photos taken by me.
There were many independent stand from the project in the event. At the same time, there were also stands that were included in the Üsküdar project. It's already my mission to taking shots from stands. Thanks to my mission, i make a lot of friends. I listened their story. People can produce beautiful products with their own hands. We are completely addicted with the fabrication system, so we are not aware of such these hand-made products. When you examine the products you will see both good quality and original products.
The events were mostly in the center of the project. But this time we went out from the center. Obviously I never went to Beylerbeyi. Yes i'm living in Istanbul for 23 year but c'mon, it's a big city! I realized how beautiful it was when I was walking around for the event. The small shops, the downhill streets and the following sea reminded me of small coastal town. The center of event was really great, though the road was just behind it. It was probably not possible to choose a better place for an event.
At the same time, there was Tebessüm Kahvesi (Smiling Coffee) , one of the most successful social projects I have found so far. I do not want to tell it in my own speech because it's a sensitive project. I want to show you the introduction to this project with their web site.
Tebessüm Kahvesi is the social project of Üsküdar Municipality. On March 21, 2016, Tebessüm Kahvesi has 10 down syndrome staff for waitresses. Tebessum Café serves in the garden of Üsküdar Burhan Felek mansion. It is open every day from 08:30 to 20:00 in a decent peaceful environment. At every meal of the day, you can taste the our food from master chefs. Tebessum Kahvesi has fresh tea every morning with the service of our young people with Down syndrome.

This is just one of the social responsibility projects supported by the Üsküdar project. It tries to provide support by throwing many fields like this. The events are not just in kermis mood. At the Beylerbeyi event, there were exactly 3 different music groups performing. Each one was better than the other. While enjoying your live music, it is a pleasure to mingle with people, to see what they do and to chat with them.
The activities in the Center are also very enjoyable. I would like to have more involvement with this project. But the conditions of life put a young person away from taking part in volunteer projects, unfortunately. At least we will show them our support by visiting them and we can meet the good people. Maybe they are small. But small things can change everything with in time. Don't forger: Do good things for goodness.
