Don't give them what they "want" give them what they "need"

Hello amazing steemians, @oghie here.

There's an old adage, usually attributed to Confucius, it says;

Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime.

That sentence has so many lessons to learn from. One might translate it rationally to something like ''Education is the vital key or gift you can give someone to improve his circumstances. Truth be told, i'm not sure that's really going to get to the heart of the matter — although it's probably close enough for government work.

There's another proverb that says;

Give a man the answer, and he'll only have a temporary solution. Teach him the principles that led you to that answer, and he will be able to create his own solutions in the future.

Although it might not be considerably catchy but it does brass tacks much better than hindering the meaning of the apothegm of traditional charity. If you accept the educational translation, you're only elaborating nothing more rather than elevating the standard of wisdom but on the other hand it's not a tool to solve the Universal problem. Come to think of it, the quote about education doesn't make full use within the context the word ''education'' because the formal education this days first of all consists more on children memorizing answers and thereby ignoring the fact/importance this children needs to learn how to get the answers correct in the first place.

In IT security, more so than in many other fields of study and practice, it is important to be able to think for yourself, reason through the implications of what you are doing, and employ fundamental principles to come to sound conclusions. In many fields of endeavor, little more is required for success than memorizing some formulaic solutions developed by deep thinkers of the past who pioneered the field. IT security is a far more competitive field than most, however, because the primary concern of the IT security professional is someone trying to circumvent all his efforts.

In my blogging and cryptocurrency work, i try as much as i can to teach newbies and new users the principles behind the challenges they are facing. I try as much as i can to assist anyone with the little i can or with words. A steemian (probably newbie) contacted me on discord that her internet just finished and no physically funds to recharge her network. I quickly sent the exact money to her cause i know how frustrating it is when your data is exhausted.

Atleast am glad i assisted someone who really needs my help, @cyntibellar.

I appreciate the help you give people on this platform. It can be discouraging to get a foothold here. Quick question: do you think it is harder to make a few dollars on Steemit now verse a year ago?

Ummm i think it's easier now unlike before, reason is new projects are coming up and will help foster everyone to benefit from it.
