The Death of Free Protest
Louisiana introduced legislation in March that if enacted into law could penalize people for protest, even those never even setting foot on the sites of protest. Even simply discussing a possible trespass action would result in prison sentences of FIVE YEARS and fines up to $10,000. Other acts of civil disobedience such as any damage to infrastructure would be 15 years in jail. These types of anti-protest bills started in Oklahoma in the U.S. are are spreading rapidly. The source for the legislation is the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a corporate-funded lobbyist group and arm of the oligarchs. Thank you America, let's keep kissing our liberty and freedom goodbye as we're squeezed under the corporate thumb of compliance.

The state is now racking up charges against Water Protectors in Louisiana. They have been stacking felony charges on people who were clearly not violating this law in an effort to intimidate others from joining the fight.
Our priorities in this country are so out of whack. Good luck with your efforts.
