An Idea to make Online Communication more responsible!

Hey Steemians, we need your opinion on a new form of video-interaction!

Let me quickly introduce a closely related topic.

Anonymity is one of the biggest assets that the internet has. It allows minorities to speak up. People can organise themselves and are able to express thoughts that they probably would not have been able to otherwise.

There is a deep meaning behind Oscar Wilde’s quote “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” Delicate topics such as the secrecy of the ballot or the protection of sources for journalists are major milestones in the development of our societies.

However anonymity also has it’s own side effects. Often enough people are not behaving as responsible in the internet as they would in the real world. Phenonema like trolling occur and online discussions can quickly get very personal without adding value to the core topic. Needless to say that in certain comment sections we might be talking with more bots than humans.

According to that we asked ourselves: “Would people say certain things exactly in the same way when they would be in a face to face conversation? Or would they try to be more responsible?”

Which made us come up with the following idea - what if people would show their faces when expressing their thoughts publicly in the internet? With video-comments directly on top of videos. Each video-comment would be time-stamped and relating exactly to what’s being said in a specific moment in the video, while being the basis for further video-responses on top of it.

That’s what made our project Mosaeek came to life.

Main vision behind this idea is to close the loop between creators and audiences and transform video from a one-directional into a multi-directional form of communication. Not only would it make people think twice before sharing thoughts out there, it also gives valuable comments (in whichever way - smart, funny, knowledgeable…) the high visibility they deserve and let them enhance the video experience. Creators and audience can interact in an equal way.

Even bots (still) have it a lot harder to fake human behaviour through video.

Steemians seem to be very open-minded about new technologies and alternatives to existing solutions.

As I said before - we’d value your feedback a lot!
