Psychology Of Defeat In Battle 2

in #psychology5 years ago

Hello, Friends!

Yesterday I started the psychology of defeat in battle, check out the introductory note Here

Today, I will begin with a history of a military strategist in ancient China called Sun Tzu. He was a man with a master of soft power and also the father of agile warfare. From the history, he's a man that preferred to win a fight without fighting and the major application he applied was to win the easiest battles first.

We need to understand that, when you are in the midst of war, the victorious strategist will only seek for battle after the victory has been won. He the strategy to use is to always make your way by following unexpected routes and attack unguarded spots. Friends, tactics in the military are like water which is a natural course. Water runs away from high places and hastens downwards, this is the same in war, you need to avoid what is strong and strike at what is weak. Follow me closely...

When you look at the above submission you will be discovered that the tactics extend far beyond the field of battle due to the fact that this focused on finding the easiest approach to achieve a specific goal. From the understanding, I derived from Sun Tzu tactics which can be applied to everything from business growth and habit formation.

Application Of Military Strategy In Daily Lives

Many times, the building of new habits has been our focus and we tried all we could to achieve big goals, and otherwise win at life through sheer force. This simply means we are fighting our battles directly and attack the enemy. To shock you, you are attacking the point where they are strongest that is why you struggle to conquer.

How easy it is for you to write a book in a noisy environment?
How easy it is for you to do your homework with the television on?
How easy it is to concentrate when our smartphones are filled with social media apps, games and many others distractions around us.

Many of us blame ourselves when we fall off course or let me say we when to fail to achieve our goals and we tie it to not having enough willpower. Most times failure is not a result of poor willpower rather its a result of the poor strategy.

Do you want to have military tactics in mind to change your business strategy then start by winning easy battles and improve your position. For good military leaders, their mission on the battlefield is to wait until the opposition is weakened and morale is low then they take on their foe directly. Why starting a business, project or habits in an environment that makes your progress difficult?

  • The first strategy is to make easy improvements to your business/projects/habits, build your strength then establish a better position from which to attack the most difficult changes.

  • The second strategy build habits/business that is easily be maintained, you will be sure of succeeding at all times. When you know where to start with and which one to leave for later, you will know how to prioritize your movement.

There are battles we are destined to win if we follow the right strategy. The little I mentioned may not really work for you but I hope you pen down one or two important points. Battles you are destined to win become better, not simply because of willpower or work ethic, its a matter of strategy. Never assume is a lack of willpower or an unwillingness to change is often a consequence of trying to build good businesses/habits in bad environments.

A man that is trying to read more books in a room filled with video games how will execute the task within a speculated time. It is high time we build our businesses/habits where it is easy to do so. Redefine the situation and create a game where the odds are stacked in your favor.

All these points above sound simple, but how many times do you find yourself fighting difficult battles and ignoring easy ones? There is plenty of time to fight difficult battles. Win the easy battles first and prepare for the hard ones.
