109 - Comemorativos da Aviação - Parte 1

A Royal Canadian Mint emitiu esta série de moedas de $20 para comemorar os heróis da aviação canadense e seus feitos.

A série consiste em dez moedas emitidas duas por ano, começando em 1990 e indo até 1994.

Pela primeira vez cada moeda tem um camafeu oval coberto com ouro 24 quilates, com o retrato do herói da aviação comemorado.

Todas as moedas foram emitidas com acabamento Proof, com pureza de prata de 92,5% e cada uma pesando 1oz (31,1g).

A caixa de alumínio, no formato de uma asa, é feita de material proveniente de aeroplanos canadenses reciclados.

A primeira moeda mostra o Avro Anson. O marechal do Ar Robert Leckie (1890-1975) foi um oficial da Royal Air Force e Chefe do Air Staff of the Royal Canadian Air Force de 1944 a 1947.
