1.Scholar Qigong- Basically this type of Qigong is the type of Qigong you typically see people practice in the park and on the streets in china and around the world. The main focus is on the physical body and exercise. Most practitioners will not know much about theory, history or the spiritual side of it, they are mainly just exercising to stay healthy. This type of Qigong you can learn for free in parks or at your local community center.

2.Medical Qigong- This type of Qigong is what traditional Chinese medicine doctors study and practice, it involves a variety of different skills such as acupuncture, acupressure, massage, cupping, and Reiki energy healing. This is typically done in a private one to one setting in a hospital room or spa. the Medical Qigong doctor will be highly knowledgeable when it comes to the bodys internal organs and meridians and much of the Qigong theory. When a person is sick or injured consulting a medical Qigong doctor is highly recommended before any other type of Qigong is practiced however don t expect the Medical Qigong practitioner to have a developed physical body or beautiful Kungfu movements like that of a Kungfu Qigong practitioner.

3.Kungfu Qigong- This type of Qigong started thousands of years ago when solider and warriors would train in this art to develop their physical body and also there internal energy so they can survive in battle and beat their opponent. The main purpose was to protect there body and make it tougher so the body can absorb blows from kicks punches and also weapons. Kungfu Qigong starts soft with internal Neigong meditations but then turns into hard Qigong when the practitioner starts breaking boards and wooden objects on different parts of his or her body. This was made popular in the Shaolin temple and is still being practiced there along with many Kungfu schools around the world. Most practitioners of Kungfu Qigong will know much about the human body, self defense and practical applications of Qigong but would not know as much of the theory as the medical or spiritual Qigong practitioner.

4.Spiritual Qigong- This type of Qigong is practiced mainly by Taoist priests, Buddhist monks, inner alchemists, spiritual hippies and truth seekers. The main purpose of this type of Qigong is for Ascension and enlightenment. Many of these practitioners don t enjoy living in a 3d world and chose this path as a form of escape or also as a way to spread more love and harmony around them. Many of these practitioners will also follow other forms of spiritual practices like yoga, Pranayama, Reiki energy healing, channeling and psychic awareness. Monks and Priests spend there whole life practicing this art and can develop many metaphysical psychic powers in the process. The main focus of this practice involves deep Neigong meditation and breathing.
