Question of the Day
Today's Question of the Day actually comes from a 28 year old young woman that is currently running for U.S. Congress. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently won the Democratic primary in New York's 14th congressional district where she is virtually a shoe in come General Election time this November 6th. This means she will most likely be the youngest woman ever to be sworn in as a U.S. Congresswoman.
During one of her more recent interviews, which I highly suggest every American, every Russian, every Chinese and every person of this world where their country budgets and spends more on War initiatives than on social services to watch this woman's interview. Although I am not politically affiliated and I am not asking anyone to consider this in terms of one political party or another.
I am asking people to watch this video as human beings that wish for a better world, and to consider the fact that countries spend Trillions of Dollars worth funding War initiatives, that some will argue create peace due to defensive as well as potential offensive war capabilities, but won't spend Billions on social initiatives that people like Ocasio-Cortez believe the people of America, and the world deserve from their governments.

"We write unlimited blank checks for war.....(yet) we only have empty pockets when it comes to the morally right things to do......."

Of the U.S. Federal Government's 2018 Budget of some $4.17 Trillion dollars, some 46% will go to Government pensions and Defense (both ridiculous). 36% will go towards health and welfare (8% for welfare).
The U.S. spends a good portion on social services, but is it really enough?
Can America say it is in a "good place" right now?
Would flipping the budget numbers to 46% for Health and Welfare and lowering government pay/entitlement down to 36% while also diminishing U.S. world aggression be better for America and the World?
Just askin'.........
..any money is never enough with a socialist mindset - until it's eventually eats itself..
...this only benefits the military industrial complex, no one else..
I saw that interview too.
Here's the thing. Her drive and agreeable perspective and the reality of operating within our political system are at odds. She was asked who was the leader of the party, and before being promoted to say Pelosi, she was trying to suggest that the Democratic party ran by consensus.
Without the party, she'd surely never be elected, but within the party, I worry that the pro-war elements will dilute her enthusiasm and drive to see what is right be done.
Very frustrating, but we can hope.

STOPGood morning @streetstyle, our pockets may be empty, but your brain is full of knowledge that will take you away, this does not buy money, our satisfaction as parents. As for health, our children are everything and even our lives are little to give them. Conclusion, our inheritance is what they receive from us and forges their well-being and knowledge.

Interesting, relevant topic. I think this is the problem of many countries .. It is good that there are people who understand that children are our future, and we must invest in them to the maximum.
