Columbus Day Has To Be Even A More Ridiculous Holiday than Thanksgiving

in #quinneaker6 years ago (edited)

I usually don’t pay attention or even know when most holidays are, even big ones like thanksgiving or Indapendence Day.

Found out that it was Columbus Day today and all I could exclaim is “this has to be the most ridiculous holiday in America.

I mean we are supporting a story that is not only propaganda and arguably blamtent lies, but it’s also a holiday that led to a gernicide of an entire continent of native people who had been here for thousands of years.

Now I’m all for humans SHARING land and resources as we all come from life anyways, yet to literally kill and cage an entire continent and drive them into tiny sections of land they once had free range and called home.

So if there is anyone who is not yet aware of real history and genocide of people like what happens in other places as well due to war mongeringnpower hungry men, then start looking into it.

It’s not pleasant but it’s better to know the truth otherwise history just repeats it self.

It’s kinda like 911, not plesent but very critically important.

Blessings on the way to enlightenment~•~

It's thanksgiving in Canada today. Traditionally, it's more about celebrating the harvest here. I guess it's about respecting what the land provided, being grateful... and now we freeze for six months.

Being thankful is great and celebrating it is fun.

Title typo...?

Yup lol

I try not to take Columbus Day too seriously. It was always meant to be observed as appreciation that America was Discovered. Europe celebrated the economic prospects of linking both sides of the world together. Americans of European decent celebrate the American Dream of possibilities waiting to be discovered beyond the wild frontier. In its best light, Columbus Day is intended to be the Day of Discovery, celebrating America as the greatest discovery in the world.

It is with great respect that I generally pay close attention to appreciate our Native American ancestors, especially during this time of year. All life is sacred. Those who died, and those who live today because of the sacrifices made by those who died. We cannot change history. To shame our heritage is to shame the blood our ancestors spilled so that we might have life. This is a great time of year to remember to learn from our ancestors, remember their stories, and share their stories with others so that future generations will not forget.

There is no such thing as one people who were good, and one people who were evil. People are capable of all kinds of good and evil combined (human/mortal nature), and they lived according to different laws and standards, taught by the people of their lands. They are all born of the same people, and all of their history is good to remember, from both perspectives.

Ya true but it’s also true that Europeans committed genocide against the natives and things like black slavery and KKK
