Ramadhan in My Neighbourhood 🎁

Idul Fitri is only a week away from now, have we give our best efforts to be a better person than before? Only you who knew what is the point of Ramadhan for you. Yes, I have no right to say or make any judgement about it. But I wish you all the best 🙏

Once a year, for the Muslim, especially in My country which is known as the biggest Muslim Country in the world, just like other Muslims in other parts of the world celebrate Ramadhan not only as the fasting month, but also a best moment to give and share our earnings to the less fortunate people including our families.

My father is running a small business in our garage, He sells various kind of snacks and cold soft drinks for children, also cigarettes and instant coffee and tea for adults. During Ramadhan He opens the shop from 4 pm to 7 pm, not so many costumers as in regular days. He bought all the items from a merchant store near our neighbourhood. This year, after getting the orders delivered to his store, The delivery man handed over a beautiful box as gift.

My wife suggested Father to share the box with a muted-man who is collected our daily waste and take it to the waste management center. But Father refused her idea. He wants to buy another gifts. Luckily, my sister sent a banner pic to me, and I show it to Father. He said that Cici shall go and get anything she needs for her and also for the man.

We've been so lucky that we live in such a good neighbourhood, every Friday (except for Ramadhan) The Women's Group of Mesjid At-Taqwa prepares free food for Friday Prayers attendance. Our Citizens Association also has a good and transparent method to collect fund from the community and share it to our environment security men and the needy. Not to mention that we also have "ifthar for everyone" as the Mosque annual event too. Everyone in the neighbourhood can share whatever they have or want to through a Ramadhan's Youth Committee.

Yes, We don't have something like "Kuah Beulangong or Ie Bu Peudah" that were cooked by the people and share it to the whole village like We used to have in Bayu, Aceh Rayeuk or any other regions in Aceh. But, as the old proverbs says "Lain Lubuk Lain Ikannya", there is nothing to complain about.

We share the same earth and sky, why bother comparing and find the big difference between us?
I love the Ramadhan atmosphere in Aceh as I love Ramadhan in Pamulang or any other place I have ever been staying in. The same spirit always take us out of our different perspectives on politics, ideology or other personal issues to a same goal, being a better person and contribute towards the community, no matter how small or big the contributions are.
