A new wave of passive investment opportunities incoming?
With bots we had the first wave of passive investment. Some love them, many hate them...
Regardless what you think about them you cant deny they were convenient if you were not interested in posting but still wanted your Steem to work for you.
Of course there was also @minnowbooster who combined bot but also gave out the opportunity to delegate to another user. Many customers were bots though.
Then came the gambling dapps and the dividend payout they provided.
The amount of dividends dependet on how many tokens you were holding, how big the supply of those tokens is and how money the dapp made this period.
There was a lot of hype and hate around them as well.
And your ROI may vary a lot especially if you played yourself to farm the tokens.
And with farming tokens we come to the core of the problem.
When the difficulty to get tokens got higher and therfore the risk of farming them increased, the increased decreased.
People wanted to get in early, get a nice stack of tokens and then hope the dapp gets successful and a lot of people play and loose.
As the games were not really this much fun in my book.
I am sure you have read about @steemhunt at some point if you did not join the platform yesterday or did not just came back when the price increased.
They announced yesterday that you can earn 20% a year by delegating to them.
That is quite a lot....
What does that mean?
I think @steemhunt just raised the stakes in the delegating game.
Why would I delegate to @shit-post-upvoter-for-moooneeyy-bot for less?
So hopefully some Steem flows out of the bots into something more useful.
On the other hand this also means that maybe even more Steem will be locked away in an eco system which wont support you as long as you dont take part.
But it also means if you do good work there you might be rewarded even more than before.
And hopefully this is just the beginning of a new era where more and more real usecases come to Steem and the whole Blockchainworld.
I think everyone will choose what is suitable for him, and I’m sure we will see a lot more on the platform, the main thing is not to harm

I've not done the math but steemhunt is being touted as a slightly better investment than a bid-bot, that's if the HUNT tokens hold 'some' value.
This looks like a positive step, not for @shitposter-tony though :)

Not sure about the others but the gambling dapps seem to have an issue with dilution if i follow the drama correctly. Delegating is a nice feature of steem... the 5 days for it to return feels like eternity though lol
