Nothing against the model but is he really one to talk about self voting and such when he has a 95% self vote anyway? Or is this just some act of rebellion?

And if curation is increased, sureley that'll encourage vote sellers as it means even higher ROI. And then your everyday blogger is getting 30-40% of their earnings cut?

All I'm saying is that non linear gives way more power to whales
Higher curation rewards gives way more of the reward pool to to whales, and therefore less to small accounts, and likely won't bring back manual curation into the mainstream.
The separate flag pool is an excellent idea.

Food for thought.

Why should anyone not go close to 100% anyway if there’s a 4x return compared to curation? It’s no different from selling or exchanging votes. Im not even sure why Ive not gone 100% after so long now, ive been sacrificing like an idiot. The whole purpose of the proposal is to close the gap, aligning competitive returns with what’s good for the platform. You can rest any suspicions of ulterior motives, he’s the one holding SP and even tell the network openly there’s an attack vector here.

Non-linear makes pricing of votes difficult. Extra curation rewards would sway more stakeholders into curation. 30-40% earnings cut is inconclusive since curation isn’t the status quo at the moment. But of course, not everyone wouldn’t be able to give themselves a few cents (although not an accurate scenario since having slight non-linear means people would need to put out at least something that gets voted on after they vote themselves to maximize the utility of their SP), there’s a measure of inequality here which at the same time will cull 99% of the spam and congregate the rewards more which is maangeble for community regulation. The subsidized downvotes are there to mitigate any problems, imagine everyone being able to freely dish out something like a free downvote once a day, that’ll likely clean up the trending of any trash and also disrupt ROI bidbots.

Anyway we’ve literally spent hundreds of hours thinking about this and I think have rationalized it well in the few posts we’ve put out.

That's cleared some stuff up for me, cheers.

I still think that increasing curation will indeed make curating more attractive, but say if there was an account that only voted for another account that they owned, they still get nearly 100% of it regardless of what curation is at.

But it's important to remember that increasing curation could inadvertently make vote selling and bot frontrunning more lucrative.

Im up for trying it out, but the changes would have to be gradual. Or you could fork steem?
