Are cheap LiPo battery's for RC's good?
I would say yes but also no
the no name packs of ebay or other Chinese sites
I would not trust
but the Turnigy and Zippy packs from Hobbyking are of very high quality
and from my own experiences they also perform very well
but can you trust these packs?
in 99% of the cases that a LiPo catch fire, it will not explode
the chance that this happens will become greater if you charge them too much, so more than one volt too much
but there is always a chance that ....
yet there are more stories about the no name packs that they explode
you can reduce the risks by charging in a LiPo bag or in a ammo box

price comparison 2s 5000Mah USD

Hobbyking:
Turnigy 30c $20
Zippy 20c $16

Big buy brands everywhere:
Traxxas 5800Mah 25c $62
Venom 25c $49
Duratrax 25c $44
Gens Ace 50c $40

Traxxas does not have 5000Mah 2s packs so 5800 is the closest
and I must say that I am very surprised about the Gens Ace pack
lowest price with the highest c rating among the major brands
a Turnigy 60c pack is available for $27

for the people who do not know what a c rating or mah is
the higher the C the faster the car will accelerate
the higher the mah the longer you can drive

from my own experience, the turnigy packs are great
have the $20 5000Mah 30c pack almost a year and he is used at least 2 times a week and it still works like the day I bought it

it comes down to the fact that the low-cost brands do just as well as the big brands
