I love going to the fair. The food is bad for you but oh so YUMMY! One of my favorite things to get at the fair is elephant ears. We totally flaked and missed our county fair. So guess what that means? I get to make them at home!!

These are the ingredients I used.IMG_20170829_213853322.jpg

I cut the recipe in half because there was only 2 of us eating it.

Mix flour, salt and baking powder together. IMG_20170829_212451484.jpg

Add some butter. I used actual butter. Don't use fake stuff. It isn't good for you and your food will TASTE way better with real butter. IMG_20170829_212806074.jpg

You can use a fork or a butter chopper thing (I don't remember what it's called and I don't have one). Personally I use my hands and crumble the butter into the flour mixture and it's works great.

Pour the water in and mix the dough into a round ball. IMG_20170829_213229088.jpg

You can add a little flour if it's to sticky. IMG_20170829_213424706.jpg

Knead until it's soft and smooth. Let sit for 15 minutes. IMG_20170829_213859251.jpg

Lay in lightly floured surface. I cut into 2 sections but could have easily done 4. The recipe is for 8, but again I cut it in half. IMG_20170829_214032798.jpg

Smooth it out and roll into a 3/8 inch thick circle. IMG_20170829_214140357.jpg

While I'm doing all this I have a cast iron pan heating up with sunflower oil. I find that the dough cooks better in sunflower oil. Once it reaches 375° I can put the dough in.

Let it get as brown as you like and flip. IMG_20170829_214627183.jpg

Once it's done we like to add some cinnamon sugar. IMG_20170829_214731610.jpg

Sometimes we add honey. As shown in the first photo. Tonight I added some ice cream and whip cream. IT WAS DELICIOUS!

We are going back on keto. I notice a big difference when we don't have alot of sugar. That being said, today's dinner and tonight's dessert was the end of sweets. At least for awhile.

Here's the link to the recipe. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/county-fair-fried-dough-recipe?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=content&utm_medium=social

Hope you enjoyed this post and thanking you for making it this far!

My next post will be on today dinner, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers and fried chicken. All homemade and the jalapenos are from our garden.

Until next time...

I cheat when I make this I just use bread dough and hand stretch it out.

You got the post up!

I'd like to give these a try...I'm not supposed to be eating them either, but maybe I can come up with some event that makes it so I only get a little piece instead of eating a whole one. :-D

It was really easy. And it's not much at all which is what I liked. Also the only sugar is the cinnamon sugar. Which is also a bonus.
